Product Overview |
3-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES, CAS No. 919-30-2) is an amino-functional organosilane coupling agent, widely used as a chemical intermediate and surface modifier in the production of composite materials, adhesives, sealants and coating materials.
Our APTES is produced via high-pressure ammonolysis of self-manufactured γ-chloropropyltriethoxysilane intermediate, featuring consistent quality, low free chlorine and light color to reduce yellowing risk during storage and application.
It is particularly suitable for the formulation of silane modified resins for surface treatment and adhesion-promoting primer formulations.
APTES can also be used in glass-fiber reinforced composites, mineral-filled polymer systems and water-based coating systems, where its molecular structure can support excellent inorganic-organic interfacial bonding, good hydrolytic stability, and formulation compatibility. It effectively improves filler dispersion, enhances dry and wet mechanical strength, and lowers moisture absorption of finished parts. APTES-modified systems are also used in selected industrial coatings, adhesives and fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) applications.

Packaging & Storage |
Packaging: 200 kg/drum. Custom packaging can be discussed based on order quantity and transportation requirements.
Storage: Store in a dedicated hazardous chemical warehouse that is cool, dry, well-ventilated and away from light. Keep containers tightly sealed and segregate from strong oxidants, strong acids and strong alkalis.
Storage & Handling Notes
For 3‑Aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES), prolonged exposure to moisture, humid air or high‑temperature conditions may cause hydrolysis and self‑condensation of the material.
Store in tightly sealed original containers, keep away from water, moisture, acids and heat sources. Avoid prolonged contact with ambient air. Under proper sealed storage conditions, the product maintains good storage stability. Prevent inhalation of vapors and skin/eye contact during handling.

Applications |
Applications of 3-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES)
3-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES, CAS 919-30-2) is an amino-functional organosilane coupling agent widely used as a building block and surface modifier in adhesive, coating and composite formulations. Its molecular structure makes it particularly suitable for inorganic-organic interfacial bonding, resin modification, and selected high-performance surface-treatment systems.
Adhesives & Primer Coatings
APTES is commonly used in the production of adhesion-promoting primers and adhesive systems. Its amino-functional structure can support strong inorganic-organic interfacial adhesion, good hydrolytic stability, and formulation compatibility, making it suitable for industrial surface-treatment applications.
Typical application areas include:
Silane-modified primers
Industrial adhesives & sealants
Metal surface pretreatment
Glass and mineral filler surface modification
Industrial repair coatings
Water-borne & High-Performance Coatings
APTES can be used in coating systems designed for water-borne, low-VOC, and high-performance coatings. APTES-modified formulations may provide a useful balance of processability and coating performance, including improved adhesion, corrosion resistance, humidity resistance, and chemical resistance.
It is particularly suitable for formulations where strong substrate adhesion, stable water-borne system performance, and filler compatibility are required.
APTES is also used as a silane coupling component in mineral-filled polymer and composite resin systems. These resin systems are used in composite materials and applications requiring durable interfacial bonding performance.
Typical applications include:
Glass-fiber reinforced composite resins
Mineral-filled thermoset & thermoplastic polymers
Fiberglass-reinforced plastics
Industrial composite molded products
Fiberglass-Reinforced Plastics & Composites
APTES-modified resin systems can be used in fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) and composite applications, particularly where interfacial bonding strength, corrosion resistance and long-term durability are important performance considerations.
The final performance of APTES in any resin or coating system depends on the complete formulation, filler loading, processing conditions, curing system, and intended end use. Customers should evaluate product suitability according to their specific formulation and application requirements.
FAQ |
Q: What is APTES used for?
A: 3-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane acts primarily as an aminosilane coupling agent in fiberglass-reinforced composites, mineral-filled thermoset and thermoplastic resins, adhesion-promoting primers, industrial adhesives and sealants, as well as water-borne coatings where stronger inorganic–organic interfacial bonding and humidity resistance are required.
Q: What kinds of transportation types can you provide?
A: Depending on parcel size and urgency, we arrange express courier for under-25 kg sample boxes, FCL/LCL sea freight for drum loads, and air freight when a shorter lead time is required. APTES is shipped as a regulated liquid; our forwarders prepare the correct MSDS, UN packaging and dangerous-goods declaration for the destination country.
Q:What pre-sales and after-sales support do you provide?
A:We respond within 24 hours and provide technical, order, and logistics support throughout the cooperation process.
