Applications of Undecylenic Acid
Undecylenic acid (CAS 112-38-9) is is a fungistatic fatty acid stable within the pH range of 5.0‑6.5. Its maximum permitted mass fraction in cosmetic formulations is 0.2%, while it is applied at 2%-15% mass fraction as a pharmaceutical antifungal raw material for topical skin preparations. It also serves as a key synthetic intermediate for perfumes and fine-chemical derivatives.
Pharmaceutical Antifungal Preparations
Undecylenic acid is widely adopted in topical antifungal pharmaceutical products. It delivers effective antifungal performance at 2%-15% dosage, and is formulated into external skin preparations for fungal-related skin conditions.
Cosmetic Formulations
Within the legal limit of 0.2% mass fraction, it functions as a functional bacteriostatic ingredient for cosmetic systems. It performs best under pH 5.0-6.5 conditions and fits well in skin-care cosmetic formulas.
